Civil Drainage Products for Residential Developments

Residential development continues on an upward trend in Victoria, fuelled by a strong demand for detached houses within Melbourne’s seven growth areas. When establishing new residential communities, the construction of drainage infrastructure is essential for effective water management.

SVC Products can support developers and contractors with the supply of various high-performing, industry-compliant civil drainage products for new residential drainage networks.

Stormwater pits

Stormwater pits capture and store rainwater that has been collected from the road or from individual houses, channelling it into the drainage system. These pits are made from strong, durable precast concrete in various standard sizes.

SVC stocks large volumes of stormwater pits in all sizes, ensuring stock is readily available.

Grates and covers

Grates and covers are essential components used in tandem with stormwater pits. They prevent debris, leaves, and other objects from obstructing the flow of water, while also ensuring the safety of pedestrians and road traffic.

SVC offers various grate and cover options, made from cast iron, lightweight plastic, reinforced concrete or galvanised steel, each offering different load-bearing capacities to suit application-specific requirements.

Trench grating

Trench grates, also known as linear or channel grates, are long, narrow grates installed over drainage channels, designed to efficiently collect and redirect surface water. They are commonly used in driveways, patios, and other areas prone to water pooling.

SVC supplies galvanised steel trench grating and trench channel sets in various widths, which are load-rated for safe application in trafficked areas.

Stormwater detention systems

Stormwater detention or retention systems are designed to temporarily store stormwater during heavy rainfall events, gradually releasing it into the drainage system. These systems help mitigate the risk of flooding and overload on downstream infrastructure.

A number of drainage products are available from SVC, including multi-cell detention devices (patented by SVC and Swinburne University), dual-chamber orifice pits, and compatible accessories such as trash grates and covers.

To ensure the effective establishment of drainage infrastructure to support residential development, it is crucial for developers and contractors to select suitable civil drainage products that are compliant and fit for purpose. This ensures that new residents are properly accommodated with reliable infrastructure that will provide strong functional performance for many years.

With over 7 decades of industry experience as a manufacturer and supplier, the team at SVC Products is well equipped to assist with product information and enquiries for new projects. Contact us using the button below to enquire about your next residential project.
