The Department of Transport and Planning (VicRoads) owns major infrastructure assets such as arterial roads and freeways, which provide important routes for the daily movement of people and goods across the state. DTP is responsible for the upgrade and construction of new major roads as well as the ongoing maintenance of existing routes.
Safety and compliance are essential for an efficient road transport system, and civil construction products used in DTP projects must be VicRoads compliant or VicRoads approved to ensure their safe deployment in highly trafficked environments. DTP publishes technical documentation relating to Victoria’s transport network and operations, including Standard Drawings and specifications for drainage and roadworks. Suppliers of products used in the construction or upgrade of VicRoads assets must comply with the relevant DTP regulatory requirements.

SVC’s stormwater product range for major roadworks projects includes VicRoads approved pits and risers, which differ from our standard knockout pit range. VicRoads pits by SVC are always made to order, in a VicRoads-approved concrete mix design that fulfils the requirements specified in BTN 033 – Structural Requirements for Reinforced Concrete Drainage Pits, such as minimum pit depth, wall thickness and reinforcement details.
Complementary to our VicRoads pits, SVC offers VicRoads compliant grates and VicRoads pit covers in Load Classes A to E. These covers satisfactorily meet the requirements of the relevant VicRoads Standard Drawings, as well as the Australian Standard AS3996:2019. Products in our VicRoads cover range have been carefully developed and tested to achieve the required performance standards. They are made from heavy duty ductile iron and galvanised steel, which can be further enhanced with high-strength locally-produced precast concrete encasements.
In addition to our large range of kerb lintels, SVC supplies VicRoads lintels that are designed to be installed in conjunction with our DTP covers. All precast concrete products in our VicRoads range are made from our eco-friendly, 40MPa concrete mix design.

Our VicRoads Accreditation
DTP employs a prequalification scheme that lists certain construction companies as VicRoads accredited suppliers of construction works, allowing them to tender for VicRoads projects. Though there is no equivalent scheme for suppliers of construction materials (as opposed to works), SVC is confident in promoting our unofficial status as a VicRoads certified manufacturer.
