The Shrine of Remembrance underwent redevelopment in 2002 where special consideration was given to the positioning of the new entrance, the establishment of a Visitor’s Centre and improved Administration facilities. The construction of the new additions, designed by Ashton Raggatt McDougall, included the creation of four walled courtyards, a Visitor Centre and gallery under the northern steps. SVC’s Gattistone paving was selected and laid extensively throughout the new courtyards, providing a solid foundation in the beautiful memorial spaces.
The successful redevelopment transformed this iconic Melbourne monument into an exhibition space and educational centre for visiting locals and tourists alike.
A landmark of great importance to the memory of all those servicemen and women of Australia.
