SVC was asked to provide a custom cover solution for a large Melbourne Water outflow control pit, built at a newly constructed subdivision in North Coburg.
The large 3500x1800mm internal pit was raised above ground level and required a solid reinforced concrete cover. The design brief required the cover to allow access to internal spindles that would control the water outflow into the adjacent park wetland and Darebin Creek.
The cover was constructed in two parts, supported by a structural beam in the centre of the pit. A single Gridlite Evo lightweight insert was cast in to provide maintenance access, along with 3 150×150 cast iron inspection boxes that provided the necessary access points to the control spindles.
Being a prefabricated solution, the custom cover was able to be swiftly and efficiently installed once delivered to site, simply by careful placement of the cover into place.
