Carnegie Railway Station has undergone a major upgrade, becoming one of five elevated railway stations in the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project.
The elevation of the train tracks from Caulfield to Dandenong has opened up new public space equivalent to the size of 11 MCGs. Beneath the tracks at Carnegie, the area adjacent to the station has been transformed into a linear park. Various types of sport and exercise equipment encourage local residents to get active and embrace the outdoors.
The upgraded station, linear park and surrounds are furnished with brightly-coloured park tables and seating, made from custom precast concrete bench modules that feature brick and tile inlays and timber seat-tops.
