No, SVC does not supply precast concrete channels compatible with our trench grate and frame sets. The installer is required to build a trench on-site, over which our trench grates can be installed. If customers opt to use our Trench Channel sets, all that is required beneath the channel grates is a flat concrete base.

Yes, our modular systems are available in multiple widths (150mm, 220mm, and 300mm) to accommodate varying hydraulic capacities. Choosing the correct width ensures efficient surface water capture, preventing flooding, and allowing continuous flow into the underground drainage network.

Load Class B is designed for areas accessible to slow-moving light vehicles, such as residential driveways, nature strips, and footpaths. Load Class D is engineered for heavy-duty applications, including roadways, loading bays, and commercial zones that experience heavy commercial vehicle traffic.

These robust systems are typically specified in areas that experience high vehicle traffic, heavy commercial machinery, or significant weight loads. Common civil and commercial applications include building entrances, industrial facilities, loading docks, and large municipal carparks.

SVC's trench grates and trench channel sets have a simple, modular design that allows long linear drainage channels to be created. Simply install the trench grating frames or channels end-to-end to create the desired length, then backfill or pour concrete around the frames to set them into place. Finally, the 1m grate segments are bolted down into the steel frames to complete the system.

Trench drains are used to intercept and collect surface water over a long, continuous line, as opposed to at a singular point. The water is captured and diverted into the underground drainage system, avoiding water pooling at the ground level.

Common drainage trench applications include low points in front of garage doors, across large paved areas, at the base of retaining walls, and at entryways.

In general, the standard forgebar or weaved pattern in SVC's stormwater grating range is rated as bike-safe, meaning bicycle or wheelchair wheels can safely travel over the grate surface without getting caught or stuck. The grate apertures (openings) of bike-safe grating designs are typically too large to safely accommodate high-heeled shoes such as those with a stiletto heel.

In certain applications, pedestrian areas may specify "heel-safe" or "heelproof" grates, which have smaller openings to prevent high heels from getting caught. Out of SVC's stormwater grate offerings, only our Pedestrian-Safe Grates are classed as "heel-safe" and are suitable for high-heeled shoes.
